A numerical study of the comparison of normal concrete and light weight concrete exterior beamcolumn joints behavior to cyclic lateral loads

This paper presents a numerical analysis of the exterior Beam-Column Joints (BCJ) in resisting combination constant axial and lateral cyclic loads. The materials used this study were Normal Concrete (NC) Light Weight (LWC). has been commonly to reduce mass buildings minimize structural damages due earthquakes. A model BCJ using NC was verified experimental data from previous research. Then, these models LWC analyzed obtain performance. aimed elaborate on as structures resist earthquake performance through hysteretic curves, ductility, stiffness degradation, strength degradation. results showed that NC-BCJ achieved higher maximum story drift 5.3% than LWC-BCJ 4.5%. reached forces 40.58 kN 40.51 under push pull loads, compared with 27.83 32.40 kN. satisfied criteria ACI 374.1-19 ratio 1.0 Despite lower by NC-BCJ, it criterion ratios 0.93 0.99 respectively.
